For task lighting, like next to a reading chair, choose a slim lamp that blends with the decor yet offers ample light. For a decorative touch or a warm glow, select a sculptural base with a patterned or linen shade. Regarded as one of Danish lighting designer Mads Caprani's hallmark creations, the Timberline lamp draws inspiration from the transitional zone of the tree line, where wood gives way to stone. Its combination of materials—bentwood, cast iron, and canvas—allows the piece to mingle with a multitude of other textures in a room.
Travel, when done well, can have a profound effect on your life!
While it’s a technique that can be seen in much of Hicks’s work, the sconces on view begged a second look. The cargo compartments are basically the same size and shape, but Nuna can't seem to get more than a 10-pound weight limit on these. The Minu has more available accessories like an accessory tray, bug net, weather shield, and phone holders. The Trvl has a weather shield, cup holder, and universal footmuff, but honestly, I prefer third-party stroller covers in this instance. Don't worry — there are several bones I have to pick with each one and many praises to heap upon them. Once again, Nuna is winning at life with their folding, and their height.

Its geometric pattern is striking without being overpowering or distracting. It would look particularly stunning positioned next to a well-stocked bar cart. For a budget-friendly choice, Jenkins recommends this floor lamp designed by Jake Arnold for Crate & Barrel. Its linen-covered, dome-shaped shade diffuses light gently, casting a warm glow. This versatile piece fits perfectly in a bedroom, beside an armchair, or even next to a desk. Today I’m excited to highlight some of our favorite TRVL products and touch on why we love them.

These sofas and armchairs, created by the London-based duo Barber and Osgerby for B&B Italia, are meant to embody absolute comfort. Like shopping for greeting cards, wandering through the Louvre, or scrolling Netflix, Milan Design Week offers an overwhelming number of things to see—and choices to make about what to see. The city-wide fair (which we ELLE DECOR editors like to refer to as “Design’s Super Bowl”) draws hundreds of exhibitors and hundreds of thousands of attendees. Salone del Mobile, the week’s anchoring trade fair, in fact, had more than 300,000 registered visitors last year. Amid this embarrassment of aesthetically pleasing riches, however, some stood out.

For the final touch, the colors and also the pile height are varied in a gradient from the center to the edges, giving the rug a unique three-dimensional effect that makes it feel as if one has actually stumbled across it in the forest. When traveling, you could apply a sun appliqué to denote sunscreen or add a first aid cross to make it clear which bag has the medications. The girls have two that are embroidered with HAIR, which, you guessed it, are for their brushes, hair bands, bows, and other accessories.

No babies complained about this, but it does change how you fold the seat and who can sit in it. The Nuna Mixx Next has magnetic buckles that are easy to engage, but they do get sticky quicker than the Cruz. Ideal for lovers of neutral shades, this OKA lamp may appear quite simple, but its leafy base adds the whimsical touch every living room needs. Each lamp is handcrafted and painted by skilled artisans, infusing it with a unique creative flair.
Whether you're giving your study a little refresh or trying to find the perfect dining party lighting, there's undoubtedly a lighting fixture on this list that will speak to you. Founders Eleni Petaloti and Leonidas Trampoukis, partners in life and work, opened their New York– and Athens-based studio in 2016. Objects of Common Interest wowed audiences with its Poikilos exhibition, showcasing a collection of chairs, tables, vases, and lamps made with transparent and iridescent resin; this material is now synonymous with the studio. “We like to experiment with the properties of the materials when it comes to our furniture and our site-specific installations,” the designers explain. Other notable pieces include Echoes, a transparent inflatable fountain designed for Alcova, and Lights On, a light sculpture designed for the GAMeC.
Modern technology has made it easier than ever for professionals to work effectively while traveling, so use it to stretch your capabilities further than you may have previously dared. I was once on a call with folks who were dialing in from 11 different time zones and all simultaneously viewing and updating a strategic plan. Last month, I even conducted an advocacy workshop with clients from my room on a ship in Antarctica, which I was able to do because I had prepared to work remotely.
The firm continues today as a full-service architectural and design studio that produces furnishings, lighting, and other decor elements, sold through their home brand Dimoremilano. In an effort to combine his interests in history and design, Austrian designer Laurids Gallée opened his studio in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, in 2017 after attending the Design Academy Eindhoven. Gallée’s work focuses on mixing perception and emotions using traditional techniques such as woodworking and textile weaving, but with innovative materials including resin and LED lights. Functional but modern pieces with a vital sculptural component that are aesthetically beautiful. His most recent work is the Tralucid furniture collection, which features benches, stools, and tables that cast the softest of shadows.
The Uppababy is great and a decent size and it's wrapped in genuine leather vs. the Nuna's leatherette, but it simply doesn't compete for the extra tall like myself and those in my gigantic family. Basically, if you've ever been asked if you play basketball, you need the Nuna. I'd go so far as to say that if you're on the more petite side, the Cruz is going to be your bestie for the height and for the weight of the stroller. The Nuna folds up smaller than the Cruz, but it's still a few pounds heavier.
From futuristic inflatables to a topsy-turvy office furniture installation, here are just a few of the things that delighted us during design’s biggest party. One important aspect of the Uppababy Vista that I feel I should mention when it comes to their Cruz stroller is that Uppababy has car seat adapters that can be used with a variety of seats, like the Maxi Cosi, Clek, or Chicco. The Nuna only accepts the Nuna Pipa car seat models, so if you're not a brand enthusiast and you want to use the car seat in the stroller, the only one that you can choose is one from the Uppababy line. The Nuna Demi Next or Grow costs $950 for one seat, a stroller, and a scooter board, with an additional seat costing $250, and the bassinet package is $400.
The bassinet attachment comes included with the Vista, and that's no small purchase, considering the bassinet and stand are an additional cost of $400 for the Demi. Both are suitable for overnight sleeping and naps and again, they're virtually identical. As far as the stands for the bassinets go, I prefer the Nuna's click-in stand to the Uppababy's wooden stand, that is not included, and costs $160. I love that both the Vista V2 and the Demi feature no-rethread harnesses that are easy to adjust and remove for cleaning. Both brands lose points on the areas of the seats around the harness, though, because, like every stroller, these areas do tend to get gross, but neither the Vista nor the Demi has machine-washable fabrics, and really, that's a damn shame.

A meeting of East and West, past and present, the stool takes its name from Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy and acts as a symbol of the space a soul takes on its journey to the afterlife. It is transmorphic, appearing as an A-frame structure on one side, and on the other recalling the Savonarola chair, itself pregnant with meaning as the victim of the Inquisition it was named after.—C.O. Designer Allegra Hicks showed “Metamorphosis” at Nilufar Depot, an exhibition of six pieces that cleverly showcased her own crochet work by using it as a mold for cast-bronze lighting fixtures and tables. The idea was to connect what has historically been women’s work with the more masculine art of metalsmithing.
Column, characterized by the rounded edges on all of the surfaces, corners, and handles, successfully breaks the mold of traditional kitchen design to become something elegant and eclectic. This bathroom is the first collaboration between Foster + Partners and Falper, the Italian manufacturer that specializes in bathroom furniture. Before you travel, create a detailed itinerary that includes your work commitments, meetings and deadlines.
